OBITUARY .

Henry Stephens was born in Ridgej way , Wis ., October 29 , 1868 , and departed this life at Glenwod Springs , I Colo ., April 22 , 1936 . His youth , up | to the age of twenty-five years , wad I spent in the state in which he wa 3 , born , when he moved to Leadville , ; Colo ., here whe worked in the mines , I until he became interested in a ranch j in what is now known as the the I Sweetwater country , and moved to I the present Stephens ranch home in 1 1898 , where he had since lived . Henry Stephens married Caroline ] j ! Hildebrande in 1903 . To this union 1 were born thre children : Clarence , James and Martha . Of the children i two remain alive , little Martha having died in 1924 , which was a very great sorrow to her father and the family . Mr . Stephens took a great

interest in his ranch , his community , his country and his God . He was instrumental in helping to further any idea constructive to his community . He was a charter member of the I . O . O . F . lodge in Gypsum . He was a great reader and greatly interested in current affairs . He remembered the religious training of his English mother and helped the church whenever possible . He was ambitious for his children and especially fond of his grand children ,, Marcia , Ella and Jimmy . Mr . anti Mrs . Stephens have lived and worked to build up the present ranch home for these many years and he was away from it only once , while in Arizona for his health this year . It was back to this home that he was coining , and we ore sure in Gods calling him to his real home he answered and was obedient to the command of the Heavenly Father in going , where he will receive and find welcome . Departing this life , he leaves to mourn his going . , his widow , Caroline Stephens ; his sons , Jame 3 and Clarence , all of the Sweetwater neighborhood ; one brother and three sfsters—George Stephens of South Dakota ; Julia Trezona , Susie Ralph , and Jennie Lewis , of Madison , Wis . ; three grandchildren—Marcia , Ella and James , jr ., all of Sweetwater ; and many other relatives aiid a great host of true friends . Though sorrowing in our losa , we rejoice with our beloved one who lias been released from the cares and worries of a mortal existence . The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away , blessed be the name of the Lord .

HENRY STEVENS DIES .

Henry Stevens died at a hospital in Glenwood Springs Wednesdav night of this week . Mr . Stevens had been In Arizona for bis health all winter , recently returning home . Hank Stevens was one of the old-time cowmen of Eagle and Garfield counties , living ? juat on the county line on Sweetwater creek . Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church In Gypsum this afternoon at 2 : 00 o clock , in charge of Rev . T . B . McDivitt and burial will be made in Glenwood Springs
