Richard “Dick” Alan Skidmore, 86, Grand Junction, died Dec. 3, 2018, at the Veterans Affairs Hospital. Services are pending. He was a retired aerospace engineer for Lockheed-Martin. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Jean “B.J.” Rittenhouse; one brother, Steve of Elko, Nevada; one sister, Martha Kramer, of Shelby Township, Michigan; and two grandchildren. Richard Alan "Dick" Skidmore October 16, 1932 - December 3, 2018
Mr. Richard Alan "Dick" Skidmore, age 86, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018, at the VA Hospital in Grand Junction, CO. Mr. Skidmore was born on October 16, 1932, in Kalamazoo, MI. He spent his childhood in Flint, MI, and eventually earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He retired as an Aerospace Engineer from Lockheed-Martin, where his expertise contributed to the growth of the US Space Program. Mr. Skidmore is preceded in death by his parents, Lucien and Nina Funch Skidmore; son, Michael Skidmore, and sister, Phyllis Skidmore. Survivors include his beloved wife, Bonnie Jean "B.J." Rittenhouse Skidmore; son, Steve Skidmore (Tiffany) of Elko, NV; grandchildren, Lindsey and Ryan Skidmore of Elko, NV, and sister, Martha Kramer of Shelby Township, MI. A memorial celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
