Retired grocery store owner Carlton Leo Stewart, 79. died in his home in Gypsum March 13. Born March 17, 1894 at Dotsero, Stewart spent his childhood in the area and adulthood in Dotsero, Sweetwater and Gypsum. He operated the Gypsum Store and locker for 21 years, and ranched in Sweetwater.
Stewart married Doris Thompson at Saint Antony, Idaho, on October 21, 1925. His wife survives. Burial was at Cedar Hill.

Steward's parents were pioneers in Colorado. His sister, Audra, was the first white baby born in Eagle.
