Memorial services for Grace M. Swanson, 80, a former and longtime resident of Eagle / Gypsum area, were held Dec. 23 in Rapid City, S.D. She was born Nov 26, 1909 in Warren County, Iowa, the daughter of Owen and Bertha Clevland. She moved in 1929 to Rapid City, where she married Walter A. Swanson Nov 13, 1929.
The couple moved to Gypsum in 1949 and owned and operated the Western Slope Lumber Company. They lived in Gypsum and Eagle until 1979.
Surviving are two sons, Roland A. Swanson of Woodbine, Md., and Walter J. Swanson of Ocean Spring, Miss.; three daughters, Janelle Thompson of Rapid City, Edna Ballard of Escondido, Calf., and Lana Donaghe of Austin, plus 16 grandchildren.
