Cleona Wells, 82, Grand Junction, died Dec. 3, 2018, at her home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Brown’s Funeral Chapel. She was a cook. Survivors include two sons, Robert John and James Neil, both of Grand Junction; one daughter, Judith Ann Wells Umberger of Grand Junction; one sister, Teri Mund of Connecticut; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Cleona Wells March 22, 1936 - December 3, 2018
Cleona (Lawrence) Wells, born March 22, 1936, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 82. Cleo was born in Stone City, CO to Artia and James Lawrence. After her school years, Cleo devoted her youth to raising her siblings and caring for her parents. Cleo was a cook and spent most of her career at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction. She was a member of the Moose Lodge and Women’s League. She also enjoyed volunteering, aerobics, bingo, and working in her garden. Cleo was the greatest prankster, always playing friendly jokes on people. She had the most infectious laugh and a heart of gold. She would help anybody she could, and always wanted to make sure everybody was fed. Cleo was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Bill Wells; her twin brother, Cleon; brothers, Eugene, Larry, and Glen; sisters, Lucine and Agnes; eldest son, Stephen Wells; great-granddaughter, Jadee Rose Faverman, and great-grandson, Gauge Robert Wells. She is survived by her sons, James Wells, and Robert Wells (Karen); daughter, Judy Umberger (Choya); sister, Terry Mund; sister-in-law, Kay Lawrence; ten grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and other kids she raised as her own, whether they were blood or not. A Celebration of life will be on Saturday, December 8, at 11:00 a.m., at Browns Cremation, 904 N. 7th St. Grand Junction, CO. In lieu of flowers, please make donations, in Cleona’s name, to HopeWest Hospice.
