n Thomas A. Sheeran, 89, Grand Junction, died Dec. 5, 2018, at Community Hospital. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado. He was a retired pilot with United Airlines. He is survived by his wife, Anne; three sons, Tim Sheeran and Tom Sheeran Jr., both of Grand Junction, and Christopher T. Sheeran of Cheney, Washington; one daughter, Pat Sheeran Daggett of Meeker; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions to Roice-Hurst Humane Society, P.O. Box 4040, Grand Junction 81502.

Captain Thomas A. Sheeran December 6, 1928 - December 5, 2018
Tom Sheeran was born December 6, 1928, in Tiffin, Ohio. He was the son of Emmet P. Sheeran and Louise M. Sheeran, and was preceded in death by his two brothers, Dr. Emmet T. Sheeran of Fostoria, Ohio, and Harold W. Sheeran of Cheney, Washington. Tom was raised in Fostoria, Ohio, graduated from St. Wendolin High School in 1947, and attended University of Michigan (Bowling Green) and University of Denver. Tom entered the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program in 1944 in Findlay, Ohio, and started his flying career at Snyder Airport in Fostoria, Ohio in 1945. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1949, served four years in the USAF, and two years in the Colorado Air National Guard. Tom joined United Air Lines in 1955 and had a 24-year career, working initially as Flight Engineer and progressing to Co-Pilot, Captain, Flight Instructor, Check Pilot, and retired in 1989, as Chief Pilot for United in Miami, Florida. Tom married Grace M. Stennfeld (R.N.) in 1951 and had five children, Tim Sheeran, Grand Junction; Christopher T. Sheeran, Cheney, WA; Louann Sheeran (deceased), Pat Sheeran Daggett, Meeker, CO, and Tom Sheeran, Jr., Grand Junction. Grace Sheeran passed away in 1981. Tom is survived by four children, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. In 1983, Tom married Anne F. Esselburne (PhD) of Columbus, Ohio and Miami Lakes, FL, and remained in Florida until 2007 when they moved to Grand Junction, CO. Tom’s interests included mountain climbing the Colorado 14’ers,sailing, cruising the world, exploring Colorado and Utah, and building model airplanes and model wooden boats. He was a member of the Retired United Pilots Association and the Smithsonian Air and Space Association. Tom was blessed with a truly wonderful life, with two wonderful wives, great kids, grandkids, and in-laws, Jeanette Sheeran, Paul Daggett, and Shallini Sheeran. Tom is moving on to better places, and with his bucket list filled. The family suggests that friends wishing to make a memorial contribution consider the Roice-Hurst Humane Society. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary in Grand Junction from 5 - 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grand Junction at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the Western Colorado Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
