IDENTIFIED The murdered man of whom we gave account last week has been identified as Aleide Vagneur, a Frenchman. A brother of the deceased came down last Monday morning and made positive identification. Justice Barker went with the brother to the cemetery and assisted in taking up the body to be fully satisfied.

A mystery still surrounds the case, however, the white hat found near the body of the murdered man had not been worn by him and his own black hat, a large black hat, which the brother positively identifiies was found near the bank of the river, 300 yards away.

A man with sandy complexion, tall and slender, was seen with "peg-leg" the day before the murder and not seen since. It has been hinted that he made have had a hand in the killing, or he to may have been murdered. The brother states that there should have been at least $200 on the body. What became of the balance remains a mystery.
