Laurel Andersen September 30, 1939 - December 4, 2018
Laurel "Lolly" G. Andersen passed away on December 4, 2018, at The Denver Hospice from complications of Dementia with Lewy Body. Lolly was born September 30, 1939, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Leighton W. and Vina G. (Christensen) Peterson. She was the oldest of four children and was raised in Viborg, South Dakota. She graduated from Armor High School in 1957. Lolly married Merle Andersen on July 19, 1958. They had two daughters, Jeannie Andersen and Sandy Andersen. They farmed in rural Hurley, South Dakota until 1971, when Merle was transferred to Pierre with the US Fish and Wildlife Service. While in Pierre, Lolly worked for the State of South Dakota. After Merle was transferred to North Platte, Nebraska, Lolly began a career in banking. In 1978 they were transferred to Roswell, New Mexico. After their retirement they moved to Grand Junction, Colorado. Together Merle and Lolly loved fishing, camping, and spoiling their grandkids. Lolly was involved in several service organizations in Roswell. After moving to Grand Junction, she became very active in her church and served on the Outreach Commission. Lolly is survived by daughter, Sandy Andersen; sisters, Mary (Bob) Brown, and Brenda (Gary) Schumacher; sister-in-law, Gloria (Linden) Anderson; grandsons, Brian (Mercedes) Tolle, Michael (Kristin) Tolle, Chris (Renee) Tolle, Scott (Bayle) Davis, Jonathan (Amy) Davis, and Matthew Davis, and 12 greatgrandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Merle Andersen; daughter, Jeannie Andersen; her parents, and brother, David Peterson. Services will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 3133 F Road, Grand Junction, Colorado. Her cremains will be buried beside Merle at Spring Valley Baptist Cemetery, Viborg, South Dakota in the Spring, 2019.
