Duane W. Skiff, 100, Fruita, died Dec. 19, 2018, at the Grand Junction Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was a retired railroad patrolman. He is survived by his wife, Violet; one son, Duane S. Skiff of Fruita; three daughters, Judith Speakman of Loma, Cathy Moore of Boise, Idaho, and Lisa Hensley of Fruita; one sister, Marie Stude of Garfield, Kansas; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions to the Lower Valley Fire Department, 168 N. Mesa St., Fruita 81521.

Duane W. Skiff September 2, 1918 - December 19, 2018
Duane W. Skiff went to be with the Lord on December 19, 2018. He was surrounded by his loving family. Duane was born September 2, 1918, to Ward and Mary Skiff in Gypsum, CO. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1940 where he served in South America, Hawaii, and various islands. In July, 1942 Duane married Violet Sagrillo. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, and son-in-law, Leonard Speakman. Duane is survived by his wife, Violet; sister, Marie; children, Judy Speakman of Loma, CO; Cathy Moore (Mike) of Boise, ID; Scott Skiff (Vicki) of Fruita, CO, and Lisa Hensley (Don) of Fruita, CO; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren He will be missed by family and his many friends. Cremation has taken place and no services are planned, per Duane’s request. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Lower Valley Fire Department, 168 N. Mesa St., Fruita, CO 81521.
