Maurice “Moe” Clifford Kreutz, 99, formerly of Delta County, died Dec. 22, 2018, at Holly Creek Retirement Community in Centennial. Mr. Kreutz was an educational administrator. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Delta City Cemetery. Survivors include two sons, Jim of Herndon, Virginia, and Tom of Englewood; one daughter, Mary Jane Kreutz of Denver; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.

Maurice "Moe" Clifford Kreutz December 14, 2019 - December 22, 2018
A longtime Delta area resident, Moe Kreutz, passed away peacefully at Holly Creek Retirement Community in Centennial, CO, on Saturday morning, December 22, 2018. Last week was Moe’s99th birthday, which he celebrated with family and friends. On December 14, 1919, Moe was born the son of Elsie and Fred Kreutz in Oaksdale, WA. He grew up and went through 12 grades in the western Oregon town of Cloverdale. After graduating high school he attended and graduated from Willamette University in Salem, OR. Moe then entered the Army Air Corps (precursor to the Air Force) in December of 1942. He spent 2 1/2 years as a Physical Training Officer at Roswell Army Air Field base. He also trained for 1 1/2 years as a B-17 and B-29 pilot. He was discharged in December of 1945 as a Lieutenant. Moe secured a Masters’ Degree from Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA in 1948. From 1948-1953 he was a teacher and coach in Oregon schools. In 1953 he moved to Grand Junction, CO, resuming his teaching and coaching career. During the next 15 years he was active in teaching, coaching and refereeing in Western Colorado. In 1962 he became Principal of Paonia High School. In 1962 he became Assistant Superintendent of Delta County schools until his retirement from this position in 1980. On June 8, 1945, Moe married Dorothy Nelle Swanson in Laredo, TX. They celebrated 63 years of love and marriage together prior to Dorothy Nelle’s passing in March 2007. They had three children; Jim, Mary Jane and Tom. Moe is survived by sons, Jim (Patty) Kreutz of Herndon, VA and Tom (Cindy) Kreutz of Englewood, CO; daughter, Mary Jane Kreutz of Denver, CO; three grandchildren, Michael, Laura and Justin; and three great-grandchildren, Brian, Sarah and Savannah. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; one brother; and his wife, Dorothy Nelle. Graveside funeral services will be held at the Delta City Cemetery on Friday, December 28, at 10:00 a.m. After the graveside service please feel free to join the family at Daveto’s, 520 Main Street in Delta from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. for light appetizers and visits with the family. In lieu of flowers for Moe memorial contributions should be made to the American Heart Association and/or American Lung Association.
