Franklin D. Mueller, 85, Grand Junction, died Oct. 29, 2018 in Grand Junction. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Rosary will follow at 7 p.m. at the mortuary. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Orchard Mesa Cemetery. He was a mechanic. Survivors include two sons, Gary and Robert, both of Grand Junction; one daughter, Kathryn Lenhart of Fruita; two brothers, Elmer of Fargo, North Dakota, and Richard of Las Vegas, Nevada; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Frank Mueller March 12, 1933 - October 29, 2018
Frank Mueller left this world for a better place at the age of 85. He was born in Anamoose, North Dakota, to John and Matilda Mueller. He grew up in a family of eight siblings. Frank joined the Army at the age of 17 and was stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, CO. There he met the love of his life, Florence Unrein. They were married on February 3, 1951. They were blessed with three children, Gary (Yong Sun), Bob (Sandy), and Kathy (Ed) Lenhart. After his service in Okinawa, Frank returned to Grand Junction where he and his family resided until his death. He went to work for Central Chevrolet for several years before starting his own business. He opened an Enco service station on 5th and Grand in 1962, then opened Frank’s Chevron at the corner of 7th and Main Street. He opened Mueller’s Auto Service in 1977, a family-run business. Frank and Flo retired in 2000 and handed over the business to their son, Bob, and his wife, Sandy. Frank was actively involved in the community, volunteering on the Search and Rescue Team, being an interpreter for deaf mutes in the county court system, driving the boat for the Colorado River Skippers, racing the Mellow Yellow on the Western Colorado Dragway and much more. From the marriage of 64 years, Frank and Flo’sfamily grew to six grandchildren, Lana (Birch), Dana (Hudson), Clint Mueller, Melanie (Trost), Ellie (Nisley), and Stephanie Lenhart; and ten great-grandchildren, Ryland and Kyra Birch, Hadley Hudson, Maddison and Sophia Mueller, Mia and Samuel Trost, and Anna, Emily, and Claire Nisley. Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Florence; his mother and father; sisters, Bernice, Agnes, and Florence; and brothers, Marvin and Alvin. He is survived by brothers, Richard (Beverly) of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Elmer (Claire) of Fargo, North Dakota; his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary and Crematory on Sunday, November 4 at 5:00 p.m., with Rosary following at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph’sCatholic Church on Monday, November 5 at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow at the Orchard Mesa Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests any donations be made to HopeWest, 3090B N. 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81506.
