Daniel W. Condit, 71, Grand Junction, died Oct. 31, 2018, at HopeWest Hospice Care Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lands End Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a teacher. Survivors include his wife, Cheryl K.; one son, Dustin of Littleton; six daughters, Chantel Grimsley, Crystal Van Wagoner and Caralae Kellerby, all of Grand Junction, Cherish Condit of Provo, Utah, Cheralae Medina of
Battlement Mesa, and Cassity Asher of Hamilton, Missouri; three brothers, Ron and Gerald, both of Grand Junction, and Roger of Cedaredge; one sister, Loydena Hamrick of Eckert; and 17 grandchildren. Daniel W. Condit January 1, 1947 - October 31, 2018
Dan, (Mr. C), was born in 1947, on New Years in Crawford, Colorado. He was taken from this life on Halloween 2018, in Grand Junction, Colorado after a nine year battle with ALS and silicosis. He grew up in the Nucla/Naturita, CO area. He was a patriot and an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dan graduated from Nucla High School in 1965. He received his teaching degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 1969. Dan spent 30 years as an educator and was everyone’s favorite teacher. Dan taught shop, driver’seducation, physical education, and world geography. The majority of his time was spent at Central High School. Many of those years Dan coached high school and junior high school wrestling, football, basketball and track & field. He also spent several summers coaching little league for his kids. Dan’s favorite sport was always wrestling. He was a proud member of the Colorado Wrestling Officials Association for over 30 years. He never hesitated to "discuss" his true feelings and opinions with referees, umpires and officials no matter what the sport. After retiring from teaching in 2000, Dan ran High Plains Cable with his son, Dustin, for ten years. On July 12, 1968, Dan married the love of his life, Cheryl Kathleen Ramer. He was the proud and beloved father of eight daughters and two sons. He loved the outdoors and spent many happy times hunting, fishing, and camping with his family and friends. Dan was known for his sense of humor and was an avid story teller. He always enjoyed dinner conversations with his family. He will be forever missed and eternally in our hearts. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Mae Condit; son, Danny, and two baby girls. He leaves behind his eternal companion, Cheryl Condit of Grand Junction, CO; children, Chantel (Brad) Grimsley and Crystal (Geoff) Van Wagoner all of Grand Junction, CO; Dustin (Jolene) Condit of Littleton, CO; Cherish Condit of Provo, UT; Caralae (Joe) Kellerby of Grand Junction, CO; Cheralae (Danny) Medina of Battlement Mesa, CO, and Cassity (Kevin) Asher of Hamilton, MO; grandchildren, Jaide (Cody), Marshall, Tage, Zander, Kirstin, Cayden, Derrick, Benton, Brayden, Kaylae, EllaGrace, Keirra, Tyrus, Timmery, LilaMae, and Jaxtin; siblings, Ron (Claudia), Roger (Audrey), Gerald (Debbie), and Loydena (Wayne) Hamrick, and numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 2949 Hwy. 50 in Grand Junction, CO.
