Nancy C. Walter January 23, 1923 - November 10, 2018
Nancy went to be with Jesus on November 10, 2018. She was 95 years old. Born to Italian immigrants in Easton, PA, she was the first person in her family born in America. She was the oldest daughter in a hard working family of two boys and six girls. Nancy is survived by her sisters, Camille and Vincie Mary. She will be missed deeply by her immediate family: daughter, Joanna (Larry) Feather of Grand Junction, CO, with grandchildren, Angela (David) Bushi of Lone Tree, CO; Lucas (Stacy) Feather, and Maria (Mark) Sills of Grand Junction, CO, and son, Vincent (Edie) Fresoli of Bethlehem, PA, with grandchildren, Mike (Marie) Fresoli and Greg (Ashley) Fresoli. She is fondly known as Nonna (Italian for grandmother) to her five grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, and to countless people around the country. She was preceded in death by daughter, Pauline (3 days old); grandson, Justin Feather (33), and two husbands. Nancy had to leave high school to help support her family. She worked at an ammunitions plant during WWII as a "Rosie the Riveter." She was very proud to have worked in the Executive dining room for Bethlehem Steel. She moved to Grand Junction in 1988 and worked as a hostess at Starvin’ Arvin’s, Garfield’s and the Crystal Cafe restaurants. During this time she also earned her GED at the age of 67. She retired at the age of 79. At these restaurants, she made people feel important and tried to serve them with love. She considered her customers her friends and cared about each person and their families. Nancy loved Jesus, dancing, crocheting, cooking, baking and being with her grandkids and great-grandkids in CO and PA. She made pies for family and friends that included her doctors and pastors and served them with love. We would like to thank St. Mary’s Hospital, The Center at Foresight, Grand Villa Assisted Living and, finally, HopeWest Hospice for taking such good care of her. She was loved and cared for by her church family; the Church of the Nativity. A private internment will take place at St. Matthews Episcopal Church and a celebration of her life will be held in the spring. Memorial donations may be sent to Grand Valley Young Life, 2500 Broadway, Unit B, Grand Junction, CO 81507, or online at gvyounglife.com.
