Quinton LeRoy DeWeese September 15, 1923 - November 13, 2018
Quinton passed of natural causes on November 13, 2018, in Grand Junction, CO. He lived 95 wonderful years with an endless curiosity about how things worked, enjoying coffee at McDonalds with his friends, woodworking, traveling, and visiting with his family. Quinton was born on September 15, 1923, to Louis H. and Eda (Hayes) DeWeese. He grew up in Collbran, CO, graduated from Collbran Union High School and then entered the U.S. Navy. He proudly served his country during WWII as an Aviation Electronic Specialist. He married Evelyn Laura Robbins September 17, 1946, in Mesa, Colorado. They lived in Grand Junction to start their family and continued to enjoy the Grand Valley for many years. Quinton was the co-owner of Radio & Electronics Supply, a wholesale distribution company, and later sold real estate and managed various investments. He loved electronics, photography, woodworking, computers, travel, and time with his family. Throughout his life, he had an adventurous spirit and desire to travel. When he and Evelyn were raising their children, they enjoyed many weekends on Grand Mesa and the surrounding area with extended family and friends. Quinton loved a good road trip. He loved traveling so much that after retirement he purchased a travel trailer and lived full-time as a nomad. He enjoyed time in Texas, California, and other US locations. During his travels he visited friends and family, he documented his travels through photographs, and always enjoyed telling stories about his adventures. He was the longest resident at Grandview Apartments. He moved into the apartments in September 1995 and enjoyed making friends there over the years. Most recently, he stayed active by venturing out on his scooter around the area. Preceding his death, his wife, Evelyn, died in 1970, and his son, Gary, in May of 2018. He is survived by his children, Patricia (Gary) Hollandsworth of Gypsum, CO, and Roger (Tonya) DeWeese of CO; grandchildren, Amy Moreno of Gypsum, CO; Brad (Tara) Hollandsworth of Salt Lake City, UT; Kevin Hollandsworth of Grand Junction, CO, and Laura DeWeese of Cleveland, OH; great-grandchildren, Amber Moreno of Gypsum, CO; Isaac Hollandsworth of Salt Lake City, UT; Quinton Avery Hollandsworth of Salt Lake City, UT; Karoline Valdez of Grand Junction, CO, and Kalob Hollandsworth of Grand Junction, CO.
