On Wednesday, October 9, 2019, Donald York Kirby, loving husband and father of two, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones.
Donny was born in Glenwood Springs, CO on November 12, 1950 to John “Keith” Kirby and Betty June Chevalier. He grew up in McCoy, CO with his brother Monte and sister Sandra. Donny graduated from Soroco High School in May of 1969; joined the Army in June of 1969; and married Brenda Hassig on Dec 26, 1969. After serving a tour in Vietnam they raised their family, David Edward and Michael Don, in Yampa, CO. Donny had a lifelong career where he worked and retired from Energy Fuels/20 Mile Coal Co.
Donny married Debra Schneider October 4, 2008 and they have resided in Craig, CO for the past 11 years. Donny loved adding Deb and her large extended family to his life. They brought him great joy and laughter. Donny loved his country. He also loved spending time outdoors, hunting, camping, boating, 4 wheeling and just spending time with family and friends.
Donny is survived by his loving wife Deb and her 3 children (spouses) his 2 sons (spouses) and numerous grandchildren and extended family. Donny touched a lot of people and will never be forgotten.
There will be Military Service and celebration of life at the Journey of Life Baptist Church in Craig, CO 10/19/19 at 10:00 am with a potluck lunch to follow.
