MADELINE PICKFORD: 1987
Madeline Pickford of Forest Grove, Ore., died on Monday, July 13, 1987, following a heart attack suffered on July 9. A memorial service was held in Forest Grove on Saturday, July 18. She came with her husband, G. D. "Pick" Pickford, to Routt County in December 1946. They had moved from Denver, where he had been with the USFS Division of Range Management in its regional office. The Pickfords were prominent in
civic organizations and projects in Steamboat Springs. They were active in the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club and the Winter Carnival. They were among the founders of the annual Aspencade. Madeline was a member of the United Methodist Women's Organization, and both were members of the local church. After leaving Steamboat Springs in 1956, they moved to Fort Collins where
he became supervisor of the Roosevelt National Forest, a position he had held at Routt National Forest. She leaves her widower and one son, Stewart. Memorial gifts ran be sent to the United Methodist Church in Forest Grove.
