Martin Stoecklein Jr., age 74,
passed away on March 17, 2020,
at the VA Medical Center, Grand
Junction, CO.
He was born on December
1, 1945, in La Crosse, KS,
the son of Martin and Anna
Depperschmidt Stoecklein.
He was a member of St.
Anne’s Catholic Church in Palisade, CO. Marty “Dooner” as he
was lovingly known to much of his family, served in the United
States Navy during the Vietnam War. After his military service,
he worked for the Public Service Company of CO, and then owned
bars in Loveland, CO, and later in Eufaula, OK, before permanently
retiring in Grand Junction, CO.
Martin is survived by his wife, Judy Stoecklein, and sons,
Shannon Stoecklein (Angie) of Erie, CO; Chance Stoecklein
(Lindsey) of Elizabeth, CO; Shawn Young (Lanette) of Strasburg,
CO, and Tim Howard (Jody) of Strasburg, CO. Other survivors
include brothers, Jim Stoecklein (Venita) of Hutchinson, KS, and
Don Stoecklein (Beth) of Spring Hill, KS; sisters, Mary Ann Pavlu
of Ness City, KS; Sister Darlene Stoecklein of El Paso, TX; Betty
Gassman of Manhattan, KS, and Donna Werth of Great Bend, KS;
sisters-in-law, Fran Stoecklein of Independence, MO, and Clarice
Stoecklein of Ness City, KS, and grandchildren, Codi Young,
Aaron Stoecklein, Amity Howard and Sam Stoecklein.
He was preceded in death by parents, Martin and Anna
Depperschmidt Stoecklein; brothers, Leonard, Harvey, Gary, and
Melvin; an infant brother; sisters, Dorothy Mae, Sister Virginia
Stoecklein, LuVera Rohr, Cleo Werth, and Judy Stoecklein, and
brothers-in-law, Alfred Werth, Levane Rohr and Tony Pavlu.
A military burial service was held on March 20, 2020 at the
Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Grand Junction, CO for immediat
