C. W. “Bill” Peterson, of
Freeport, KS, retired missile
scientist, passed away on
January 14, 2021.
Bill was born the oldest of
three children on September
13, 1929, to Alfred D. and Nora
Casemino Peterson of Durango,
CO. After completing high
school, Bill attended junior college and then University of Colorado,
Boulder, where he graduated with a BS degree in Physics in 1953.
After graduation, Bill was drafted to the U.S. Army, assigned
to White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), NM, and was honorably
discharged in 1955. Bill continued working at WSMR where he
married and started a family. He worked there until 1979, and
retired as a Branch Chief over testing and evaluation of several
national missile programs. In the late 70’s Bill remarried and
after retirement they traveled extensively and eventually settled in
Freeport in 1985.
Bill’s many and varied experiences led him to be a valuable
resource for his friends and neighbors. His mind was packed with
knowledge, in many different avenues, that he gladly shared.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents; brother, John, and
daughter, Julie. He is survived by wife, Carol; son, Doug (Kimlee)
Peterson, Fountain Hills, AZ; daughter, Dr. Hope VonBorkenhagen
(Mike) Wright of Heath, TX; grandchildren, Thomas (Sarah)
Peterson and Emma and Keaton Chandler; great-grandchildren,
Chase, Zoey and Amelia Peterson; sister, Carol (Jim) Cadez, Grand
Junction, CO; nieces; nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Memorials, in memory of Bill, may be made to the Freeport
Presbyterian Church, in care of Eldringhoff Funeral Home, 115 S.
Bluff, Anthony, KS.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Eldringhoff Funeral Home of Anthony, Kansas. Friends may sign
