Teresa Rose “Teri” Thomas,
61, formerly of Grand Junction,
transitioned from this life
December 22, 2020, in Fargo
ND, after five years with
breast cancer. She was a ray
of positivity in the lives of
many loved ones up to her last
day, helping them appreciate
the beauty and meaning of the art surrounding us all. Always
unpretentious and a generous soul, Teri let her enthusiasm for life
show and loved meeting people and exchanging ideas.
Teri was born in Fruita, June 29, 1959, to Patricia (Kresha) and
Eugene Thomas. She graduated from Douglas County High School
and served as a weapons control systems mechanic for F-4E planes
in the Air Force, enjoying travel all over Europe. Teri was married
for a few years and attended the University of Southern Maine,
then moved to San Francisco, where she met her partner of eight
years, Mike Mahan, and worked as a production editor and copy
writer. Coming back to Fruita and Grand Junction, she studied art
at Mesa State College and the Marble Sculpting Symposium. She
attended the Pilchuck Glass School near Seattle and earned her
BFA in sculpture from Cornish College of the Arts, then became
an entrepreneur.
Preceded in death by her parents, Teri will be missed by her
siblings, Joe Thomas, Karen Thomas, and Gloria Thomas, and
nieces and nephew.
