Peggy Lou Johnson was born
in Clifton, Colorado, to Dale
and Evelyn (Joni) Lundy on
November 24, 1936. She passed
away unexpectedly in Las
Vegas, Nevada, on December
30, 2020.
Las Vegas was where she
called home for the last 15 years.
Peg was preceded in death by
her parents; older brother, Jack
Lundy, and her best friend and daughter, LaCinda Johnson.
She is survived by younger brother, Al Lundy of Grand Junction,
CO; son, Raymond Houck of Grand Junction, CO; grandchildren,
Justin Bosshardt of Santa Yenez, CA; Kenda (Cliff) Hopkins
of Fruita, CO; Dustin (Chase) Houck of Grand Junction, CO;
Tasha (Chris) Prock of Fruita, CO; great-grandchildren, Raegan,
Peyton, and Keighley Bosshardt; Carter and Lylah Hopkins;
Kinley, Kameron and Cohen Prock. Peg had many cousins, nieces,
nephews, family members, and longtime, cherished friends she also
leaves behind.
Throughout her childhood, she was always involved with horses
and that love never faded even in later years. Any opportunity to see
or be around horses, she would have a front row seat and a colorful
cowgirl hat to match her outfit. It was that love of horses that led to
her long time career in journalism, publishing and world travel. She
was always ready to plan her next big project, adventure, and party
and it must include fun and excitement.
After owning several newspapers in Colorado and California
and several decades spent traveling, writing, building, buying and
selling, she settled in Las Vegas, NV, where she would start her
retirement. She had everything she wanted in the busy desert city.
Most importantly, an international airport, a variety of restaurants,
and country music concerts. Taking several cruises a year and a
vacation or two with close friends or family was how she spent her
time. She delighted in her dogs, especially her German Sheppard,
Tara. It was a joy for her to help others experience travel in this
beautiful world; she hoped they would find a love for travel as she
had. One of her lifelong goals was to visit every continent and she
accomplished that in 2012 by going to Antarctica. If there is one
thing Peg leaves behind that we can all learn from is to have big
dreams and do whatever it takes to make them come true.
She lived an extraordinarily full life, accomplished so much and
affected so many - it’s hard to put it all into words. All who knew
her most certainly have a story that stands out in their mind that
embodies Peg and will stay with them forever. She had a larger than
life personality and an unforgettable spirit that undoubtedly left its
mark on all who knew her.
Per Peg’s request there will be no services.
