Randal W. Conway
August 19, 1943 - April 28, 2021
Randal W. Conway passed
away peacefully at home,
surrounded by his family. Randy
had suffered several strokes, the
first in July of last year that left
him partially paralyzed, but he
never stopped fighting and was
determined to recover, although
his body just could not keep up
with him.
He was born to Ralph and
Shirley Conway in Phoenix, Arizona. After high school, Randy
joined the Navy and proudly served four years, one of which he
was stationed on Midway Island. He met the love of his life, Janelle,
and they were married for 47 years.
Randy was a skilled welder and could make just about anything out
of steel or horseshoes. He worked as a welder for Corn Construction
for over 30 years. For decades, he volunteered his time coaching. In
1978, he was responsible for starting the girls softball program at
Orchard Mesa Little League. He was not only a coach on the field,
he was a coach in life as well. He loved the kids that played for him
and his goal was that everyone just “had fun”. His greatest love
and joy was his family. He will be remembered for his unfailing
work ethic, warm hugs, firm handshake, infectious smile and his
contagious, loud laugh.
Randy is survived by wife, Janelle Conway; sister, Debbie (Ken);
brother, Russ (Mary); his children, Shelly, Rick, Carrie, Sandy, and
Sally; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is preceded
in death by his sister, Gwen (Art).
Please join the family in a celebration of Randy’s life Monday,
May 17, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, at 11:00 a.m. Later that
day an interment ceremony will be held at the Veterans Memorial
Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. A rosary will be held Sunday, May 16, at
5:00 p.m., at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Randy’s name to the
National Multiple Sclerosis Society at nationalmssociety.org or to
Hope West at www.hopewestco.org
