September 1, 1946 – January 12, 2022

Michael Golden passed away January 12, 2022. Born September 1, 1946 to James and Lucille Golden, Michael moved to Steamboat with his parents and younger brother, Tony, in 1961. The family adopted his younger sister, Gina, in 1964. Michael was a talented artist and musician, teaching himself how to play several instruments during high school. Upon graduation, he attended Colorado State College in Greeley where he majored in speech and drama. Michael served his country in the Navy from 1966 to 1972. When he returned, he lived in Denver for a few years before following his passion, making music his career. Michael was the lead singer for the Starlite Ramblers, writing many of their songs and playing multiple instruments with the band during their many years of success as a top Colorado band, even headlining local 4th of July concerts and rodeos. The band was inducted into the Colorado Country Music Hall of Fame in August 2021. From 1995 to 2018, Michael wore many hats working at KHNC radio, fulfilling the roles of Station Manager, Operations Manager, Programming Director, Recording Producer and Voice over Talent, among others. Michael also had many loving relationships in his life. He has one adult son, Cody, and several stepchildren for whom he cared greatly. He adored being a grandpa. He met his beloved wife Dani through their work together at the radio station. Michael would have said the most important thing to him in the later years of his life was his desire to share scripture and his love for God. Michael was preceded in death by his parents and his former wife Renee. He is survived by his wife Dani Golden, son Cody Golden, brother Tony Golden (Mindy), sister Gina Toothaker (Michael), stepmother Ruth Golden, stepchildren Caryl, Alayna, and Adam, three grandchildren, and multiple nieces and nephews. No services are being held at this time. Michael’s legacy of music and life can be found at golden-streets.com.
