F.C. “Clint”
Maxfield
June 24, 1931 - July 5, 2021
Clint passed away
peacefully at home on
Monday, July 5, 2021.
The son of Clinton and
Alice Maxfield, he was
born and raised on a ranch
in Divide Creek near Rifle,
Colorado with older sister, Pat. He graduated from Rifle
High School in 1949, and earned a Bachelor of Science
in Business from the University of Colorado in Boulder
in 1953. In 1952, while finishing his degree at CU
Boulder, Clint married his high school sweetheart, Reta
Louthan. They enjoyed 62 years together until Reta’s
passing in 2014.
Clint was drafted into the Army in 1953. After being
honorably discharged in 1955, he and Reta moved to
Glenwood Springs, where Clint began a successful
career as a CPA. After the births of son, Greg and
daughter, Andrea, the family relocated to Grand
Junction where Clint became a business owner. His
accounting firm, Maxfield & Co P.C., served Mesa
County for nearly 50 years until his somewhat reluctant
retirement in 2006.
Clint enjoyed camping, skiing, golfing, and boating
at Lake Powell. He was an active member and past
treasurer of the Grand Junction Masonic lodge, past
president and treasurer of the Western Colorado Shrine
Club, and had many fond memories of his membership
in the Scooter Patrol.
Clint was preceded in death by his parents, sister, son,
and wife. He is survived by daughter, Andrea (Robert)
Van Gundy, of Denver, CO, and granddaughter, Heidi
(Jonathan) Heath, of Parker, CO.
