Ronda Clark, our
beloved wife, mother,
grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away
peacefully in her home on
July 25, 2021.
Born January 9, 1947, in
Vernal, UT, she was the
oldest daughter of Lavell
and Laura Simmons. Ronda grew up on the family farm
in Naples where she lived until she was swept off her
feet by her sweetheart, Theron. They were married on
July 15, 1965.
As newlyweds they made their way around the
west following work that took them from Heartline
Washington to Gillette, Wyoming and many other
places in between, before finally settling for many years
in Rock Springs, Wyoming. This was where they raised
their children, and where she learned how to do pottery
as a student at Western Wyoming Community College.
This would become one of the great loves of her life and
she excelled at it.
After becoming an accomplished Potter herself, she
went on to teach others the joy of working with clay at
the same college she had learned from. She loved the
arts and dedicated much of her life to her craft and used
it to help others in various ways, including donating
annually to the Empty Bowls program. She was among
a handful of artists commissioned to create pottery for
the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
In 2002 they moved to Colorado for work. Here
they were able to establish T&R Trucking. This would
become a great opportunity for them as it allowed them
to have most of their children work with and live very
close to them. After retiring in 2011, Ronda spent most
of her time reading and doing her pottery. While in
Colorado she became a member of the Grand Junction
Clay Arts Guild and enjoyed the many shows and
workshops that she was able to attend. She adored her
grandchildren, and relished in the time she was able to
spend with them.
She leaves behind her husband of 56 years, Theron
J. Clark; children, Dan (Jodie) Clark, of Cleveland,
TX; Duane Clark, of Reliance WY; Jennifer (Mike)
Farnworth, of Ely NV, and Lauralee (Scott) Patton,
of Rapid City, SD; eight grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; brothers, Fen (Karin) Simmons, of
Kennewick, WA; Randy (Darcy) Simmons, Greg
(Dawnette) Simmons, and David Simmons, all of
Vernal, Utah. Ronda was preceded in death by her
mother and father as well as daughter-in-law, Toni
Clark.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at
11:00 a.m., at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary and Crematory,
