Robert “Bob” Lee
Amelang was born to
Albert and Relmah
Amelang in Ovid,
Colorado, on May 14,
1929. He was called home
to be with his Lord and
Savior, Jesus on July 10, 2021.
Bob grew up in Ovid and then moved to Grand
Junction, in his teens. After high school, he served
in the U.S. Army for three years in Japan and then
returned home to work for the 7-Up Bottling Company
for seven years. Bob then joined the Grand Junction
Police Department and served there, until he retired
after 25 years. He then served as a security officer for
the Veterans Hospital and flew as a pilot for the Civil
Air Patrol in Search and Rescue. He filled his free time
with mechanics, repairing radios and televisions, and
serving at his church.
Bob is survived by his children, Debra Parko (Terry),
of Grand Junction, and Darell Amelang (Pam), of Estes
Park; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren;
sister, Joy Long, of Montrose and brother, Roy Amelang
(Pat), of California. He is preceded in death by son,
Scott Amelang; brothers, Doug and Larry Amelang,
and sister, Audrey Burrows.
Services will be held August 9, 2021, at Clifton
Christian Church at 10:00 a.m. Military Honors
and Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., at the Veterans
Cemetery. Services are open to all who knew and loved
him.
