Fred Martin Pinnt
passed away at his home in
Whitewater, Colorado on
August 1, 2021.
Fred was born May 18,
1943, in O’Neill, Nebraska,
as one of nine siblings to
Paul and Zana Pinnt. His family moved to the Western
Slope of Colorado in 1948. After graduating from
Central High School, where he excelled in wrestling,
Fred Joined the U.S. Marine Corps in August of 1961,
and served his country throughout the 1960’s. His
Marine Corps Unit was part of the naval blockade
during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and he served
multiple combat tours in Vietnam as a Staff Sergeant,
earning two purple hearts and numerous citations and
commendations.
Fred married Carol Branscom in 1965, and when his
mother passed away in 1969, Fred and Carol became
guardians of his five youngest siblings, bringing them
into their existing family which included four boys
between the ages of ten and one. At the age of 26, Fred
was responsible for a family of nine children, eight boys
and one girl.
In the 1980’s Fred began the popular Mt. Garfield
Riding Stables in Palisade, Colorado. He had
rediscovered a love of horses that remained with him
throughout his days.
In 1995 Fred married Amanda Davis and enjoyed 26
years of marriage.
Fred is preceded in death by brothers, Paul, Kenneth,
Jim, and Otto; parents, Paul and Zana; infant son,
Robert; and grandma Green. He is survived by his
wife, Amanda; adult children, Ronald Pinnt, Daniel
Reid (Tara), Martin James Reid (Cynthia), David Pinnt
(Michelle), Gina Lawrence, Matthew Pinnt (Kaci),
Kristen Poole (Zak), Nathaniel Adamson (Dawn),
and minor child, Addison Pinnt, still residing at
home; siblings, Philip (Linda), Donald (Stacy), David
(Karen), Tim (Irina), and Nora, as well as numerous
grandchildren, great-grand-children, nieces, and
nephews.
Fred’s strength of character, loyalty, and sense of
humor touched everyone he met. He will be dearly
missed.
Honorary services will be held Wednesday, August
25, 2021, 1:00 p.m., at Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery of
Western Colorado, 2830 Riverside Parkway.
