A heart attack was fatal to a Milwaukee, Wis. investment broker, skiing on Vail slopes Monday.

Harold Cook Walker, 64, was skiing on the backside of Two Elk with Mrs. Walker Monday afternoon. Mrs. Walker told Sherriff Jim Seabry and Undersheriff Ray Rey that her husband was skiing about 50 yards up slope from her, she she looked up and noticed him sitting down. She started to take off her skis and go to him, when she saw ski patrolman Jack Betzoldt coming along the slope just above Mr. Walker.

Mrs. Walker signaled to the patrolman to check on her husband. Betzoldt came right down, at about the same time another patrolman, Don Almond, came in below Mrs. Walker to Betzoldt's assistance. Mrs. Walker called to the men that her husband had nitroglycerin pills in his pocket. The patrolmen tried unsuccessfully to give the stricken man one of the pills. Mouth to mouth artificial respiration and chest massage were also unsuccessful. Betzoldt told the Sheriff that Mr. Walker was alive when the patrolman reached him, but unable to talk.

After their attempts failed, the patrolmen transported Mr. Walker to the top of the slope where they were met by Dr. Edmund Jacobson, Vail Village physician. The doctor pronounced Mr. Walker dead at 3:45 p.m.

The sheriff's office was notified of the death by County Coroner Dick Miller's office.

The body was taken by Miller Mortuary to Denver for cremation.

Mr. Walker is survived by his wife, Phyllis; a son, David and a daughter, Jane.

Mrs. Walker told Sheriff Seabry that her husband had a minor heart attack in 1935, and had been skiing since, with the approval of his family doctor. He had frequent examinations and was advised his heart was in good condition.
