Funeral services for James Walsh of Gilman were held Nov. 5, 1950 at the Leadville Masonic Hall by Rev. Charles G. Chamberlain, Presbyterian minister.

The pallbearers were J.D. Allen and Wm. H. Luby of Eagle; John Baldauf and Emil Erlandson of Minturn; Harve Collins of Red Cliff and John Caddy of Gilman.

Graveside services were conducted by Eagle Lodge No. 43, A.F. and A.M. with James Collins, P.M. officiating. Military services were conducted by men from the Battle Mt. Post and Leadville Post of the American Legion. Interment was in the Elk's Rest in Evergreen cemetery in Leadville beside his father, Edward J. Walsh who died in 1935.

James Edward Walsh was born in Leadville April 22, 1894. His early boyhood was spent there and he graduated from Leadville High School in 1913. He attended Colorado Agricultural College for three years, studying to become a veterinarian, when his education was interrupted by the first World War, in which he enlisted in September 1917, and served with the 341st Field Artillery. Discharged in 1919, he returned to Leadville, where he worked in the mines until 1932, when he entered the employ of the Empire Zinc Company in their of office at Gilman, where he remained until his death last week.

In 1925 he married Beryl Sharpe who died 20 years ago.

He was active in the Masonic Lodge of which he was a Past Master, and the Eastern Star of Minturn. He was a member of Battle Mountain Post American Legion.

Survivors include two brothers, Henry of Leadville and Edward of Craig; and a sister, Mrs. Wm. Meese of Rifle.
