Life-long Red Cliff resident Everett Mason Warren died Aug. 13 in Edwards following a lengthy illness. He was 74.

Everett was born Sept. 15, 1920 in Red Cliff, the son of Ray Earl and Christiana (Collins) Warren. He was raised and educated in Red Cliff, and on Feb 2, 1947 married Lorna Hargreaves in a local town ceremony.

He was a partner in the Warren Brothers sawmill, and in later years worked for Vail Associates cutting runs in the summer and driving a snowcat during the winter months. He was a 32nd degree Mason and also served on the Red Cliff Town Council and volunteer fire department. He was a Justice of the Peace and Fire Warden for the U.S. Forest Service and also served as president of the Board of the Education during the 1950's. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in various parts of the South Pacific, including Australia, where he met his wife Lorna.

Survivors include his wife, Lorna Warren of Red Cliff; son Everett J. "Ted" Warren, also of Red Cliff; daughter Sheila Warren Sewell of Edwards; five brothers, Ray E. Warren, Jr., of Denver, Charles "Rib" of Red Cliff, Gordon of Cody, Wyo., David of Los Alamos, N.M., and Stewart of Longview, Wash; three sisters, Lottie Ruder and Ella Burnett, both of Minturn, and Lavinia Henke of Kalispell, Mont.; three grandchildren, Chad Edward, Cory Everett and Christi Lea Sewell, all of Edwards; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug 19 at 2 p.m., at the Red Cliff Presbyterian Church. Contributions may be made to the Everett Memorial Fund, c/o Lorna Warren, P.O. Box 70, Red Cliff, CO 81649. Farnum-Holt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
