Morton Billings White, 83, of Banner, Wyo., passed away Thursday, Nov. 22, at Westview Health Care Center in Sheridan, Wyo.

Mr. White was born Dec. 7, 1906 at Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Benjamin Morton and Lillian May (Billings) White.

He attended college at Colorado University in Boulder, after graduating from Eagle High School. He started his career in ranching as a cow foreman in the Eagle Valley.

Mr. White was united in marriage to Jessie Ada Daley on June 28, 1946, at Payson, Utah.

In 1946 he purchased a ranch in partnership with J.C. Owen. In 1948 they bought the Diamond Tail Ranch on the Big Laramie River. In 1970 they sold that ranch. He and his son Butch, bought a ranch in the Bridger Valley in Robertson, Wyo. They have sold that ranch and are in the process of purchasing and moving to Little Piney Creek Ranch at Banner. His greatest joy in life was raising good hereford cattle.

Mr. White has been a member of the Wyoming Hereford Association, various school boards, water conservation board, forest advisory board, Farm Bureau, Colorado Cattlemen's Association and Wyoming Stockgrowers Association.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Emma Wass, on Feb., 1988.

Mr. White is survived by his wife Jessie of Banner; two daughters, Linda M. Armstrong of Cody, Wyo;, and Loretta Anderson of Sheridan; three sons, Ben R. of Laramie, Wyo., James M. of Fort Morgan, Colo., and LeRoy "Butch" of Banner. There are 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and one niece and one nephew.

Funeral services were held Nov. 26 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Sheridan, with Robert Stoddard officiating. Interment was in Kearney Cemetery near Story, Wyo. Champion Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials in memory of Mr. White can be given to the Wyoming Junior Hereford Association in care of Jerry Lyman, Sheridan National Bank, Sheridan, Wyo. 82801.
