Joann “Jody”
White
November 8, 1929 - February 8, 2022
After a brief illness,
mom’s sweet, loving spirit
went to heaven last week.
Jody was born in
Jacksonville, Illinois,
to Eunice (Wallis) and
William Harold Craig. The
family was joined two years later by sister, Barbara.
Jody attended First Baptist Church of Jacksonville and
was baptized there on April 5, 1942. During her high
school years the family moved to Grand Junction where
she graduated from Grand Junction High School, class
of ‘47 and met Ted White, the love of her life.
Ted and Jody were married in Grand Junction on
January 7, 1948. They lived in a little trailer traveling
to different Colorado towns for construction work, but
always returning to Grand Junction. Their family grew
to include Bill, Dick, Jim, and Teddy Ann. In 1956, the
family proudly bought their home on Walnut Avenue in
Grand Junction.
Besides being a full time mom and homemaker, Jody
was very involved in the neighborhood; welcoming new
neighbors, keeping everyone informed of neighborhood
happenings, and hosting coffees. She proudly
participated in Orchard Avenue Elementary PTA, and
GJHS Band Parents. Jody continued to live in the family
home for 65 years until she went to be with her Lord.
She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church
of Grand Junction and was active in many roles there
including Circle chairwoman and Diaconate. She was
also active in Church Women United, Migrant Council,
Red Hats, and birthday club.
Survivors include sister, Barbara Holland, of Hudson,
Florida; brother-in-law, Norm Brooks, of Arlington,
Washington; children, Bill (Linda), Dick (Carol), Jim
(Laura), and Teddy Ann (John Currier); grandchildren,
Andy, Holly, Jerod, Craig, Becky, Nikki, Josh, and
Amy; ten great-grandchildren; “adopted” daughter,
Karlene Lambuth; numerous extended family, and
countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband,
Ted White; sister-in-law, Lena Brooks; brother-inlaw, Fred Holland; one nephew, and grandson, Ryan
Hutchison.
Services will be at First Baptist Church of Grand
Junction, 720 Grand Avenue, Saturday, February 26, at
1:30.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Gustafson, Dr. Laws,
NP Leslie Bean and Abode Home Health for their kind
assistance during Jody’s illness.
