Doug was a lifelong
resident of Grand Junction,
CO. He passed away at
home from a long-term
illness with family by his
side.
He was born at St.
Mary’s Hospital. He graduated from Grand Junction
High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree
at CSU with a major in Physical Science with an
emphasis on mathematics, chemistry and education.
Doug married Charlene Pinkerton in 1966. He is
survived by daughter, Laurie Sawtelle; step-daughters,
Connie (Gage) Miracle, and Debra Gage; granddaughter,
Shannone Armstrong, and grandson, Lucas Benson. His
wife, Charlene, and grandchildren, Brittany, Christa,
and Tom are deceased.
He met and was engaged to Marlene Brantley.
Doug was employed at Union Carbide and the
Department of Energy as a chemist.
He enjoyed the great outdoors and spending time with
family and friends, his dogs, and happy memories with
Marlene.
No services are planned, per his wishes
