The Daily Sentinel page 7C - April 17, 2022

Peter Arthur Robinson,
age 77, died at home in
the early hours of April 8,
2022, in the arms of his
wife, Marilyn. The cause
of death was cancer.
Born on May 24, 1944,
in Miami, Florida, Peter was the son of Esther (Marsh)
Robinson and Donald H. Robinson. He was raised in
the small town of Lowville, New York and attended
Lowville Academy from kindergarten through twelfth
grade. There he met classmates who would become
lifelong friends. He received a Bachelor’s of Arts degree
in English and Religion from St. Lawrence University.
Peter served his country from 1966 - 1968, as a 1st
Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran.
Later he would join Veterans for Peace.
Peter made his living as a realtor. He genuinely enjoyed
the people he met while helping with their housing
needs. He believed in giving back to his community.
He volunteered at Meals On Wheels for 15 years, was a
volunteer at the local soup kitchen, did yearly Audubon
Trail clean-up, served as an English language tutor at
the Mesa County Libraries Literacy Program and with
Marilyn, gave to numerous local organizations such
as Eureka, Mesa Land Trust, Grand Valley Catholic
Outreach, KAFM 88.1, HopeWest, the Grand Valley
Audubon and more. He was past president of the Board
of Housing Resources of Western Colorado as well
as past President of the Board of the local Audubon
Society chapter.
Peter’s twin passions were nature and his family. He
was an avid birder who participated for decades in the
local Audubon bird counts, and enjoyed traveling to see
new and exotic species. In addition to North America,
Peter went birding in South America, Europe, Asia,
Africa and Central America. Thankfully, he was able to
enjoy one last trip to Panama in February with his son,
Eric. He found peace in the natural world and supported
efforts to sustain its life-giving majesty.
Peter is preceded in death by his parents; twin
brother, David; brother, Donald; sister, Susie Parker,
and brother, Scott.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; sons, Eric
(Reetu), Peter B., and David (Mikako); daughters,
Maya (Michael Truong), Sofia (Danny) Kent, and Lucy;
sisters, Amy (Howard) Steinmetz and Molly (Andy)
Gygli. We are fortunate that all of his children and their
families as well as his siblings were able to visit him in
the brief time between diagnosis and his death. He was
loved dearly.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Please
consider making a memorial contribution in Peter’s
name to the charity of your choice.
