Charles Allen Whittier
“Al”, age 82, of Grand
Junction, Colorado, passed
away Monday, March
14, 2022, at the Grand
Junction VA Medical
Center where he was being
treated for complications relating to a heart condition.
Al attended Ottawa University in Kansas before
joining the US Air Force, retiring as a Technical
Sergeant in 1982 after a 20-year career as an Avionics
Electronics Specialist in the Tactical Air Command
Unit. He was stationed at the Strategic Air Command,
Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, and traveled the world
on temporary duty assignments during his career.
Al loved camping, fishing and outdoor recreation of
all kinds and enjoyed many years umpiring softball at
all levels. His faith was very important to him and gave
him great comfort later in life.
Al was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy
Whittier, and parents, John S. and Wilma K. Whittier.
He is survived by his children, Kelly Fosler (Todd), of
Hillsboro, Oregon; Keith Whittier, of Grand Junction,
and Kris Whittier (Krissey), of Forest Grove, Oregon;
brother, Dave Whittier (Cindy), of Grand Junction;
grandchildren, Lauren Fosler, Marshall Fosler and
Dillon Whittier, as well as many extended family
members in the Grand Junction area.
Funeral service will be at Immaculate Heart of Mary
Catholic Church in Grand Junction, Tuesday, April 26,
at 10:00 a.m. Immediately following the service, Al will
be interred next to his wife, Dorothy, at Orchard Mesa
Cemetery.
