Brian Alvis Goolsby
November 14, 1980 - May 3, 2022
Our beloved Brian is now free from his torment,
depression, fear and illness, and is resting God’s love
and care.
Brian was born in Fruita. He spent his elementary and
middle school in private schools. He graduated from
Fruita Monument High in 2000, and was a member of
the National Honor Society. He won a state robotics
contest. He graduated from UTEC auto body program
in 2000. He worked at CAPCO for a few years and
then graduated from Delta/Montrose Police Academy
March 22, 2011, where he received an award for Most
Improved Cadet. His first assignment as a police officer
was in Leadville. He then worked as a Sheriff Deputy
in Sterling.
After leaving the police force he worked several years
as a CNC Machinist in Longmont and Platteville. Jobs
he had in school were Herbergers luggage department,
where he was proud of his clean and well-organized
department. He also worked at Sports Fan, Foot-Locker,
Golden Corral, and as a flagger.
He loved Marvel Comics, and Colorado Ghostbuster
Friends. He made an awesome proton pack and ecto
mobile. He entered these items in shows and parades.
Captain Jack Sparrow was a favorite character and
Brian made an awesome uniform and entered contests.
He loved cats and rescued them, along with other little
critters. His especially beloved kitties were Mookie and
Boots. Brian had a pet gerbil, toad, fish, and for a time,
a mouse.
Diet root beer was a favorite along with Oreos,
steamed crab, and Cracker Barrel Chicken Pot Pie.
Roller coaster rides and amusement parks in Florida
were some of his greatest joys along with gifts from
his girl. He enjoyed hanging with the guys, especially
Travis, his dad, and Erica.
Brian was often on his knees with tears beseeching
God. His favorite hymn was “Draw Me Close” by Cindy
Lerae-Cruse Ratcliff. Brian was a very kind, gentle soul
who sought for ways to help others. He kept saying he
was a good person, and he was! His death is a tragic loss
and so many are heartbroken.
Visitation is from 4 - 8:00 p.m., May 12, at Mesa
Mortuary, 2935 Patterson Road. Funeral services will be
May 13, 2:00 p.m., with internment directly following at
Elmwood Cemetery, Fruita, CO, where, per his desire,
Brian will be laid close to his beloved grandpa.
