Joan Marie
Kenyon
July 31, 1939 - May 20, 2022
Joan Marie Kenyon of
Grand Junction, Colorado
passed away at age 82,
while on vacation in
Flagstaff, Arizona. Tom
and Marianne were by her
side. Born in Denver, CO
to her parents Will Lewis Davis and Gertie Bell (Webb)
Davis, she had two sisters, Betty Ann (Davis) Kitzman
and Patrica Kay (Davis) McAnally. After graduation
from Denver West High school, she went to work for
several airline companies and traveled extensively.
Eventually she moved on to transportation manager at
King Soopers in Denver.
She then moved to Crested Butte, CO and discovered
she found her dream job as a Realtor. Joan then decided
that she loved the job but not all the snow and moved
to Grand Junction, CO and went to work for Bray and
Company Real Estate. Bray & CO. quickly became a
place for her to grow professionally and personally with
the dear friends she made along the way. Tom was also a
Realtor at Bray and the two of them were a great Team.
Joan retired in 2018 (as did Tom).
Joan had many hobbies; she loved travel and fishing
which took her and Tom to places like Africa, New
Zealand and Costa Rica. With fishing pole packed Joan
and Tom traveled to Alaska, Oregon, Hawaii and Idaho
more than 30 times to catch salmon, halibut, steelhead
and her favorite, sailfish in Costa Rica. Joan was a
voracious reader to the extent of wearing out several
Kindle Readers.
Having a passion for gardening she planted an
extensive vegetable garden, flower garden and rose
garden. She loved to have fresh flowers in the house.
Perhaps top on her list was her love for animals, she
loved them all and especially her two big cats she called
“The Boys”. She married Thomas L Kenyon in 2003 and
enjoyed traveling, working and spending time together.
She is survived by her daughter Diana Hasenbalg,
Fort Orange, FL, numerous grandchildren and great
grandchildren. She loved them all. She was preceded
in death by her parents, Will L Davis and Gertie Bell
Davis and her sisters Patrica Kay McAnally, Betty Ann
Kitzman and Sam the cat.
She has requested no services and hopes everyone
will find their own way to remember her and celebrate
her life. If you chose to make a donation in her name,
the family asks them to be mailed to: Claws Rescue
& Adoption Center, 569 S. Westgate Dr. #1, Grand
Junction, CO 81506
