Maria (Consuelo) Montano Valdez, 69, passed away peacefully Sept. 23, 2022, with her loving family by her side at her home in Gypsum, CO. She was originally from La Jara, CO.
She was born in Alamosa, CO to her father a WWI Veteran and Shoemaker Alfonso Montano and Homemaker Ruby Maria Casias. She graduated from Centauri High School in 1972 and earned a Culinary Arts and a Medical Technology Degree from Utah Tech. She loved the outdoors camping, shooting, cooking, crocheting, and sewing.
She married Daniel H. Valdez Sr. in 1973. They moved to Gypsum in 1981 and had two boys Daniel Valdez Jr. and Julian Valdez. She worked at Eagle County School District for 23 years as Lead Custodian.
Survivors include her Husband of 49 years Daniel H. Valdez, two sons Daniel (Kris) Valdez, Julian (Amanda) Valdez.
Six grandchildren: Leah and Logan Aoki, Gabriel, Nickolas, Michael, and Mia Valdez; siblings Evelyn (Irene) Montano, Sylvia Montano, Nestor Montano, Rachel Favela, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by parents Alfonso and Ruby Montano; grandparents Nestor and Tonita Montano, Jose Domingo (JD) and Silviano Casias Raquel Quintana; siblings Consuelo Mares, Antonia Martinez, Lafayette (Joe) Montano, Edward Montano, Alfonso Montano, Victor Montano, Jose (Michael) Montano and baby sister Raquel Montano.
Rosery will be held at St. Mary's in Eagle, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday Oct. 21st
Service will be held at St. Mary's in Eagle, at 12 noon on Saturday, Oct. 22, followed by a Reception at Gypsum Creek Middle School Gypsum Colorado at 2:00 p.m. With a private interment at the La Jara Cemetery. To leave online condolences please visit http://www.farnumholtfuneralhome.com.
