Memorial service today for McIlveen
Memorial services for longtime Eagle resident Robert McIlveen, Sr. will be held today at 3 p.m. at the Eagle Methodist Church.
McIlveen died from complications of liver cancer. He was 85. He was born in Littleton near Waterton canyon on July 25, 1913, and moved to Eagle in 1933. He was a rancher, blacksmith and machinist most of his life.
Mr. McIlveen was preceded in death by his wife Regina in 1982. They married in 1940.
He is survived by his son, Robert, 55, of Avon and four grandchildren: John McIlveen of Grand Junction; David McIlveen of Gypsum; Lisa McIlveen of Avon; Lori McIlveen of Edwards; and two grandchildren.
His remains will be cremated and buried beside his wife in the Eagle cemetery. Friends and family will meet at the Eagle Community Park following the services.
Family members ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Vail Valley Home Health and Hospice,181 W. Meadow Drive, Vail, CO 81657.
