Richard Starkey, 61, of Platteville died Friday, April 19.
He was born Aug. 12, 1934 in Wolf Lake, Ind., to Ray and Alice Starkey. He served in the Air Force for four years. He then settled in the Denver area and began working for Public Service Co. of Colorado. He moved to Minturn in 1970 and retired in 1994. He moved to Platteville in September 1995 for health reasons.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Starkey of Platteville; son Richard Starkey of Buena Vista; daughter Becky Max of Dayton, Ohio; sister Roberta Wilson of Fort Wayne, Ind.; brother Jim Starkey of Coco Beach, Fla.; grandchildren Marna Elmore, Crystal and Micah Max of Dayton, Ohio, and Jade Starkey of Avon, great-grandchildren Breanna and Alec Elmore; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Bob Starkey; and sister Betty Jean and Mary.
A memorial service was held Monday, April 22, in Denver with burial at Crown Hill in Lakewood. A second memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at the Assembly of God Church in Minturn.
