Albert David Weiss, 82, of Pueblo died Nov. 10.

Mr. Weiss was born and raised in Chicago. He lived in Vail for 25 years until moving to Pueblo a year ago. While living in Vail, he was a community activist and took a great deal of interest in community affairs.

He was in the U.S. Navy during World War II and received the bronze star. He worked as a letter carrier with the U.S Postal Service for 30 years and also taught at the Chicago Institute of Art. He was a ski instructor in the Midwest and later in Vail, and was the first ski instructor to teach the blind to ski.

He was an accomplished artist, homebuilder and decorator. He was widely known for his bronze and leather work, and he also made jewelry and gold pieces.

Survivors included his wife, Sharr; daughter Phyllis Ayesse of Chicago; stepchildren Michelle Espinoza and Shane Sheppard of Pueblo; two granddaughters; and close friends Leonard Friedman and Ricky Friedman of Chicago.

He was cremated at Almont Crematory and a private family service was conducted. The family requests no food or flowers.
