June 2, 1949 – November 29, 2022

Lawrence (Larry) Crawford Glueck passed away at his home on November 29, 2022, hands joined with Maggie’s, his wife of 46 years. He fought a courageous battle against a ruthless and relentless cancer. Larry was generous and thoughtful, often adding a bit of humor at an unexpected moment.
Larry was born in Detroit, Michigan to Alice and Lawrence Glueck, the first of four children. He graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1967 and headed to Michigan State University, where he met Maggie Mueller in 1969. In 1973, Larry and Maggie moved to Florida, where Larry attended the University of Florida College of Law. They married in 1976, moved to Denver in 1977, and settled in Steamboat Springs in 1981.
Their son, Alex, was born in 1982. Larry and Alex shared a love of the outdoors and spent time hiking, skiing, and camping. As Alex grew older, the sport of Nordic Combined enabled them to travel the world together. Larry practiced law in Steamboat for more than three decades, driven by his strong sense of justice and ethical duty. His commitment to the community of Steamboat included years as a member of the Ski Town Lions Club, a volunteer at Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, a National Ski Jumping Judge, and a board member of local and national organizations.
Larry’s heart was dedicated to his family throughout his lifetime, but his soul was embedded in T’ai Chi Ch’uan. He was a dearly loved practitioner and teacher. In 1990, after attaining the status of Tae Kwon Do Black Belt, Second Dan, he began attending T’ai Chi classes, workshops, and camps of Master Tung Kai Ying and his son, Master Tung Chen Wei. Larry traveled the globe, learning, performing, and bringing back his knowledge and skills to Steamboat.

Larry is survived by his wife, Maggie, their son, Alex (Molly Brooks), grandsons Colton Lawrence and Charlie Alexander of Warrenton, Oregon; siblings Joanne Hoot, Steve (Susan), Ann (Bob) McChesney; and many Glueck and Mueller family members and friends.
Plans are being made for a memorial gathering in Steamboat in March at Olympian Hall.
If you desire, make a donation to a local organization of your choice, in honor of Larry’s commitment to community.
