June 26, 1950 – April 14, 2023

Wendy passed away Friday, April 14th, 2023, surrounded by family. She was born June 26th, 1950, in Newburgh, NY to Saxon Boardman Palmeter Sr and Jane Rockwell. She grew up in Metuchen, NJ. After high school she attended Bucknell University for 4 years receiving a bachelor’s degree in biology. From there she attended Princeton University and obtained her Medical Technologist certificate. She had many adventures in college including spending a summer travelling across Europe and another one road tripping across the US. When it came down to what she really wanted, it was to be a cowgirl. This brought her west to Colorado where she worked as a Medical Technologist at Mercy Medical Center in Durango, CO for 34 years. She went on to work at other hospitals in Colorado including Memorial Hospital in Craig, Yampa Valley Medical Center and Middle Park Medical Center.
She married Jimmy Woods on January 1st, 1978, and together they welcomed Rachel, Amanda and Trent. Her children remember her being adventurous and have many memories of camping and horse packing in the high country; as well as road trips all over the country. She loved to read, especially cookbooks. She married TJ Hutcheson on September 18th, 2007, in Steamboat Springs, CO. They enjoyed horses, competition shooting and spending time with family. They moved to Cortez, CO, in 2021, to be closer to family.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, and her beloved horse Smokey Canyon. She is survived by her husband TJ Hutcheson. Her brothers Doug (Fran) Palmeter of Orono, Maine and Saxon (Jane) Palmeter Jr of Metuchen, NJ. Her daughters Rachel (Dustin) Killinen of Bayfield, CO and Amanda Woods (Marcus Williams) of Ferndale, WA. Her son Trent (Hope) Woods of Cortez, CO. Three stepchildren Brian and Mark Woods and Amy DuPonte. Her grandchildren Wesley, Wyatt and Katie Killinen, River Woods and Kingston Williams. As well as numerous nephews and cousins.
