Chapman, age 83, passed
away on March 28, 2023
at her home in Grand
Junction, CO. Sue was born
on June 10, 1939 in Grand
Junction, CO to Louis
Clinton Farmer and Frances
Marion Olson Farmer.
She spent her childhood
in Glade Park, CO and
Provo, UT where she at-
tended Provo High School.
She later returned to Grand
Junction, CO. In total, she
spent 50 years of her life in
the Grand Valley. On May
12, 1989, Sue married her
beloved husband Darrel
Ray Chapman. She was a
devoted wife to Darrel who
is the love of her life. Later
in life, Sue and Darrel en-
joyed family and traveling together.
Sue was an avid and talented artist who also sang bass
with the Sweet Adelines. She enjoyed traveling and per-
forming with the group. Along with spending time with
her grandchildren, singing and art brought her true joy.
She lovingly created birthday cards with special artwork
for each person and wrote a personal message in a circle on
each card. She also crafted personalized sock monkeys for
every child and grandchild.
During her career, Sue worked as an Advertising
Manager for City Market Grocery Stores and she also
proudly served as the Former President of the Whitewater
Cemetery Association.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and
Frances and her loving husband Darrel.
Survivorsinclude her children, Stephen Cowgill (Carol),
Don Cowgill (Toni), Keith Cowgill (Angelia), Brenda Buie
(Mike), Jayne Barrus (Stu), Jule Firestone (Daryl), Sandy
Thies (Doug), Jeff Chapman, and Scott Chapman. She was
also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grand-
children.
A celebration of her live will be held at Callahan-Edfast
Mortuary, Grand Junction, CO on Saturday, June 10, 2023
at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at a later date in Whitewater
Cemetery, Whitewater, CO. In lieu of flowers, please con-
sider a donation in honor of Sue to the Whitewater Cemetery
Association. The family also asks that if you were fortu-
nate enough to receive a customized card or a lovingly
created sock monkey, please bring one in and they will be
displayed at the back of the chapel. The services will be
