Patricia (Pat) Beil, age 90
of Grand Junction, died at
the Hope West Care Center
on October 3, 2023.
Pat was born July 23,
1933, in Paonia, Colorado,
to Dorothy and Francis
Peterson. An only child, Pat
had fond memories of her
early years living on a small
ranch above Hotchkiss,
CO and then moving with
her parents to Delta, where she graduated from Delta
High School in 1951. She later attended Colorado State
University, earning a teaching degree in Social Studies and
English.
Pat married Glenn Beil of Hotchkiss on June 6, 1953.
Although Glenn preceded her in death earlier this year, they
enjoyed almost 70 years of married life together. Glenn
was a career Army officer, and the couple and their children had the opportunity to live in many states. Pat enjoyed
life as an Army wife, especially the 3 years they spent in
Germany as well as many of their stateside assignments.
Continuing her education along the way, Pat earned a
master’s degree in special education. After teaching middle school English in both Kansas and Virginia, she finished her career teaching at middle and elementary schools
in Delta, where the couple retired. Pat and Glenn moved
from Delta to Grand Junction in 2013 to be closer to their
children.
Pat made close friends wherever she lived. Among her
many accomplishments, Pat was a member of PEO, the
Delta County Library Board, and La Lecture Book Club.
She and Glenn were active members of the Hotchkiss
United Methodist Church for many years. Pat was an avid
reader and learner throughout her life. Her hobbies also
included bridge, gardening, scrapbooking, playing her favorite “Quick Hit” machine at the Bellagio in Las Vegas,
and travelling with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband,
Glenn, her parents, Francis “Pete” and Dorothy Peterson,
and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by
her four children: Kathy A. Mowat of Grand Junction,
Brian N. Beil of Eagle, ID, David N. Beil of Grand Junction,
and Stanley J. Beil of Lynnwood, WA. She has six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are under the direction of Callahan
Mortuary. Interment will be private with family at the
Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Roice-Hurst
Humane Society, 362 28 Road in Grand Junction.
