Dr. Sterrett Tom Talbot, age 97, died peacefully at his home, following a short illness, in Ft. Lauderdale, FL on June 24, 2022. Tom was survived by his wife Peggy of 45 years, his daughters Lisle Talbot, Holly Gilster and Cindy Talbot, son Hunter Talbot and stepsons Gary Nolin and Greg Nolin, and granddaughters Sandy Ellis and Abby Gilster.
Tom was born in Dayton, Ohio and after a year of college, joined the US Army and served in WWII as a radio operator. After the war, he graduated from Ohio Wesleyan, got an MBA at Ohio State, and ten years later graduated from University of Cincinnati’s medical school. Tom had a family practice in Coral Gables and Miami for more than 30 years. In 1977, Tom married Peggy Roggenstein Nolin, whom he always described as the great love of his life. They loved tennis and golf, hiking and camping, and both water and snow skiing, which led to a beloved second home in Steamboat Springs, CO. He was always up for a bike ride on the core trail, another run straight down Mt. Werner, or another round of golf, especially after he hit a hole in one when he was 89. He and Peggy were very active in their Steamboat community and always appreciated their wonderful friends there. A memorial service was held at Christ Church UMC in July, 2022.
