Beverly June Howell of
Grand Junction went to her
Home in Glory on November
13, 2023. Her passion in life
was caring for her family
and being a loving wife and
mother.
Born in Baton Rouge,
Louisiana, she was the
youngest child of Edward
and Mabel Gregory. Most of
her childhood was spent in
Ordway, Colorado, where she was a member of 4-H and
raised Black Angus. After graduating from Ordway High
School in 1948, she attended the University of Colorado in
Boulder, CO, graduated from Brown’s Business College
in La Junta, CO, and worked as a bookkeeper for the New
York Life Insurance company.
On May 4th, 1957, she married Bruce Eugene Howell.
With her loving hands and generous heart she made a wonderful home for her husband and three children. She enjoyed sewing clothes for her children and grandchildren,
along with making quilts and draperies. She was a talented baker and created countless birthday, anniversary, and
wedding cakes for her friends and family. She also enjoyed
reading the comics and working the puzzles in the daily
newspaper.
Even though dementia stole her memories and other
abilities, it was never able to take away her smile or the love
she always expressed in her winks, hugs, kisses, and words
of “I love you”. Every day she would smile and her eyes
would light up as she looked at pictures of her great-grandchildren and great-great nieces and nephews.
For more than 50 years, she was an active member of
Orchard Mesa Christian Church and was a member of the
Rebekahs Lodge in Clifton, CO for several years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter;
Denise McBride, and siblings; Edward Gregory, Doris
Proctor, Ella Proctor, and Frank Gregory. She is survived
by her sons, Brett (Lori) Howell of Grand Junction, CO, and
Dirk Howell of Firestone, CO; son-in-law, Joel McBride of
Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Danielle (Shawn) Liddicoat
of Grand Junction and Aaron (Jessica) Howell of Grand
Junction, CO; great-grandchildren, Jaxyn, Ascher, Jasper,
and Poppy Liddicoat and Hailey and Holden Howell; and
her faithful friend Ruth Head of Hotchkiss, CO.
A memorial service in Grand Junction will be held in
the Spring of 2024, followed by interment at the Veteran’s
Memorial Cemetery.
