On November 18th, Our
Mom, Etta Lou Macdonell,
died peacefully at the
Veterans Care Center in
Rifle. She was born in
Englewood Colorado on
October 16, 1931, to Allen
and Celia (Simmons)
Buffington. Proceeding her
in Death was her husband,
George, her son, Bill and
her great, great-grandchild,
Darby, Mom was a caring and loving Mom, Grandma,
Great Grandma, and Great, Great Grandma. She attended
schools at Red Cliff, Rifle, and DeBeque. She and George
raised six children, Terry (Stuart) Bennett, Carol (Stephen)
Burns, Max (Raelynn) Macdonell, Bill Rickstrew, Mary
(Rob) DeBaca, and Becky Blanchard (Bob Boyer). She had
7 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren. and 7 Great-greatgrandchildren. Her favorite pastimes were working in her
beautiful flower garden, doing amazing needlepoint work,
and having family gatherings. Mom, we are glad you are
no longer in pain and the sadness is gone. We smile when
we think of the wonderful heavenly moment it must have
been when you were reunited with your loving husband,
your Son, and your little dog Snickers. Thank you, Mom,
for all the love you shared with us. You will be missed more
than words can express. A Celebration of life will be held
in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Veterans
