Rudy Fontanari, age 81,
of Clifton, Colorado, went
home to be with his Lord on
January 13, 2024. Born in
Clifton to the late Rudolph
and Alta Fontanari, he was
the middle of three children. He enjoyed living on
the Western Slope. As a native of the Grand Valley, he
knew it “like the back of his
hand.” He spent his youth
picking asparagus along the ditch banks, picking fruit in
the Palisade orchards, hunting for muskrat, deer and elk,
and fishing. Many work opportunities took him to the
Gunnison Dam, Eisenhower Tunnel, mine closures in the
San Juans, quarrying stone on the Uncompahgre, and even
the Alaska Pipeline. He was blessed to have many lifelong
friends and be part of a supportive church family.
He is survived by his brother Andy (Glenda) Fontanari;
sister Judy (Jim) Gregory; son Brett (Britt) Fontanari;
daughter Kimberly (Trevor) Grosse; grandson Marshall
(Bekah) Grosse; great grandchildren Magnolia and Arthur.

and 2:00 pm service at Pear Park Baptist Church, 3102 E
Road, Clifton, Colorado.
