Funeral services for Gladys Githens who died Friday June 10 were at the Sowder Funeral home in Rifle. The Rev. Mel McClellan pastor of the Rifle Southern Baptist Church officiated. Burial was at Eagle's Sunset View Cemetery. Mrs. Githens was born Gladys Mildred Terrell on May 6, 1898 at Leadville. She was the daughter of Frank and Clara Mae Weaver Adams Terrell. Mrs. Githens' parents moved the family to Eagle County when she was about 2. She spent her childhood in the avon and Minturn communities and attended schools there. Mrs. Githens living in various communities in Colorado including Palisade, La Junta, and Red Cliff before moving to New Castle in 1956. She married Frank Githens on Jan. 22, 1937. Mr. Githens died in 1966. Mrs. Githens was a former member of the Rebekah Lodge. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Terrell. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Carrie Terrell of Rifle; a niece and her husband, Peggy and Gene Shue of Las Vegas, Nev; a great-nephew and great-niece, Gerald Neuberger of Houston, TX and Georgia neuberger of Arvada.
