Jessie Groh, 93, died in Delta on March 14.
Mrs. Groh was born in Wisconsin on August 30, 1887. She married Harry Groh of McCoy on November 18, 1914, and the couple ranched in the McCoy area for many years before moving to Monrovia, CA.
Later, the couple moved to Delta, where Harry now resides. They had no children.
Mrs. Groh's father, John Brooks, who died in 1952, purchased the McCoy Hotel in 1913, an d her brothers, Earl and Hollis, took over the operation of the hotel, store and post office. Hollis, who married Harry Groh's sister, Olive, later moved to the Eagle River Valley area, where he engaged in numerous activities and served as treasurer of Eagle County for one and half terms. Earl stayed on at the hotel for many years before buying what is now the Water Wheel Ranch, which he operated for a number of years before retiring and moving Monrovia, where he died in 1963, Hollis died in 1966. Surviving Mrs. Groh are her twin sisters, Madjel and Margie, a younger brother John, and a number of relatives.
